My Travel Style

My motto: I’ll try anything one, twice if I like it.

Over 30 years, I’ve visited 32 countries and counting. I’m very adventurous & enjoy activities geared toward the 20-30 something crowd, even if I regret it the next day. Mid-range hotels, guest houses and hostels (private room) are what I prefer for accommodation unless I splurge using points or ‘free nights’ from a credit card. ….I usually prefer to stay in hostels and small guest houses because I enjoy meeting like minded adventure travelers. Trying local foods is one of the reasons I love to travel, but of course I crave the comforts of home at times, or want to try out places with craft cocktails or wine when I get tired of local beer. The incredible variety of architecture, design & styles around the globe make me happy… I seek these out when traveling. Somehow I missed out on the joys of hiking & trekking adventures in my earlier years, but have recently discovered that I absolutely love it. Whenever possible I seek out trails, treks and mountains to explore. Pretty much anything active, I’m game… Biking, swimming, scuba diving, bungee jumping, kayaking, or random sports. Photography is a passion of mine, I snap hundreds of photos wherever I go, the more candid & random the better. Music, concerts and festivals bring me joy, I will plan trips around them when I can. Group tours are typically not my thing, but I am a big fan of GAdventures and Intrepid Travel for small group adventures in countries that can be daunting to navigate on your own, or if I just want to sit back and let someone else do the planning.
